What is Aqua Aerobics?

Aqua aerobics is a simple, easy to follow aerobics class carried out in the pool with or without music.  The class can use hand weights or noodles and is a great way to improve fitness.

What will it do for me ?

Aqua aerobics helps to improve fitness levels, balance and flexibility.  Due to the class being carried out in water, there is no impact to joints which makes it a great class for injured or elderly members.  Aqua can also be a challenging work out for our fit and younger members.

How hard is it?

Low- medium

Aqua is suitable for beginners to advanced members.  The work out can be as challenging as the individual is willing to make it.

What is a typical Aqua class like?

A typical Aqua class will follow the following format:

1. Warm up - 5-10 minutes of gentle aerobics moves which warms up the legs and increases core temperature. The pace is easy and the moves are simple.

2. Cardio section- 15-20 minutes of simple aerobic moves.  The pace is a little faster to assist in an increase in heart rate.

3. Strength and toning- some classes include 15-20 minutes of sculpting exercises using either hand weights or noodles. 

4. Recovery and stretch - Recovery to lower the heart rate and then stretch the muscles.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a water bottle and a towel. Wear supportive bathers.

How often should I do Aqua?

If you do Aqua two to three times per week you will feel fitter, stronger and leaner.
