Do you cater for complete beginners?

Definitely! Over half of our new members haven't been to a gym before, so you'll be in good company. And we've got plenty of activities and classes designed especially for beginners.The reason why we are here is to get you started on the journey to feeling brilliant.

Getting started

I'm going to need motivation. What advice and encouragement will I get?

Well, we'll make sure you know where everything is and exactly what we have to offer you, plus you'll get an induction with one of our fitness advisors. They will help you plan a programme of activities to suit you and your goals. And you'll find a fitness advisor is always available whenever you need help or advice. We think it's a really good idea to book a 30 minute review every 12 weeks to ensure you're making progress and that you are on track for achieving your goals.

How do I choose a class?

Easy. Choose one that you'll enjoy and at a time that suits you. You can get a pretty good idea by observing a class for a few minutes and our class timetables contain full descriptions of each class. Keep your workouts varied so that you're not concentrating on just one form of exercise. If you do resistance work in the gym, balance it with a fast cardiovascular class. Or if you do a lot of aerobic exercise, calm down with a yoga or stretch class. Don't forget that our fitness team are always happy to give advice.

Is it all hard work?

No! Fitness really isn't about 'no pain, no gain' any more (phew!). We believe that health and fitness is down to being active, eating well and relaxing. It's a much kinder and more holistic approach to looking after yourself and your body, which is why we make sure our clubs are the perfect place to take time out to do just that.
